I hadn’t actually updated the homepage since this site was created back in July 2020 (wow, time flies, doesn’t it?). Minor updates, some of the graphics changed. Most of you hang out here on the blog or on the fanfic index. No worries.
More chapters of Lost Boy coming on Friday. I haven’t actually plotted it out, but there are … 16 chapters, 3 interludes, and 2 postludes … all going out in clumps of two (except for the final clump of 3 or 4 or something like that … I want to give you a chapter with the two final postludes) … I don’t know where that’s going to take us, but we should be in July or something … and then we’ll have a break into September with the prompt posts if I haven’t written anything else (and this is me with my current fevered imagination, so you know you’ll probably get more Darcy or Bellatrix).
Random musings, but Death Mist (written way back in … thinking … I can’t remember if it was part of the 2009-2011 insanity or if it was later in the 2015-2017 writings — I think it was 2009-2011 — I think Winter’s Light, which is technically a redux, might have been 2015-2017 and that’s what I’m remembering .. anyway …) … the Death Mist was originally supposed to be Harry/Draco and not Harry/Voldemort. I haven’t actually written a Harry/Draco except for Pegasus Tears (fem!Harry/Draco, Willow Series) and the Unexpected Invitation (fem!Harry/Draco)(why isn’t this Willow Series?) … which are both fem!Harry’s. Unexpected is also Black!fem!Harry. Not that Death Mist isn’t Black!Harry. But I digress.
My brain is going many places at once.
The original Death Mist idea wasn’t that Harry was the son of Sirius Black and an unknown witch. It was that he was the son of someone else and it wasn’t going to come out until the end. It’s been 15 years (15 years! omg!) and I still have that idea in my head.
I’ve been wondering if I should pursue it.
I’ve clearly been in a writing mood.
I wrote Breakable Heaven (Paper Flowers) in November 2023. Then I wrote Dark Lord’s Daughter in December 2023. Then Lost Boy in–what?–April 2024 (last month).
I hadn’t actually written a chaptered fic (outside of NaNoWriMo) since January 2019 with Monster in Me unless you count Disinclined to Dance (August 2020+)(that was a protracted project that lasted well over a year). (edit: I also wrote The Other Telegram in February 2021 … totally forgot about my Twilight/Downton Abbey crossover which was a brilliant idea to cross over, if I may say so myself–has anyone else done that?)
So, thoughts, thoughts, many musings.
In August, apart from writing many wonderful prompts from you all and gearing up for NaNoWriMo 2024 (remember, last year I took 4 prompts from August 2023 and turned them into Breakable Heaven (Paper Flowers)… that could happen again) … I go on vakay to work on my never-to-be-completed-in-this-lifetime novel. I have written, in Harry Potter chaptered fics alone … 1 million 38 and a half thousand words in the past fifteen years … and in the past decade I can’t complete 50k in an original novel *bangs head*.
All this to say, that although life rages on (and it is raging and has been raging for quite some time), Harry/Draco. I was writing Lost Boy which was a time travel so no Draco and thinking–“why not Draco?” I don’t have a definitive Harry/Draco fic.
(And I should get a move on, because I have a feeling with Bridgerton coming out this month, I’m going to want to write Darcy/Francesca. I’ve finally finished reading “When He was Wicked” by Julia Quinn (put it down four years ago, picked it up again two months ago) … and I’m thinking I like this shy Francesca in the previews, and I’m thinking I’m going to want to write her. For all my Darcy fans out there–be prepared. I may also have to wait for the conclusion of Season 3 of Bridgerton in June.)
So, many many musings. But I’m an eccentric. And I muse. Excentrykemuse. Love, cen.
