Author’s Notes
I first conceived of this story as an idea where Harry went back in time, took James’s place (who had died from plague), and Lily fell in love with him because he looked just like James. It accidentally morphed into Lost Boy, my post-Easter project. This is also what I began to write while I was waiting for Taylor Swift to release The Tortured Poets Department. Yes, I am a Swiftie if the titles of some of my oneshots didn’t give it away.
This is my first major time travel fanfic, outside of Judicamentum and Through the Looking Glass which were both written in between 2009-2012.
It also features characters in the Maia Gaunt Divergence universe, specifically Lady Maia Gaunt, Lord Voldemort’s niece, and Roman Malfoy and Aloysia Malfoy, Lucius Malfoy’s younger siblings. Madeleine Kingsley and her daughter Lux Kingsley (Lucius Malfoy’s older sister and niece respectively) from the Lux Divergence also feature. Lily also is a pureblood a la The Wicked Stepmother Universe and I use the name ‘Stephagenia’ though I almost used ‘Stephanora.’ I had so many ‘Steph’ names to choose from. You’ll notice ‘Electra’ makes an appearance in her name as well, for fans of Sweetheart. I wanted to write a pureblood Lily fic where she doesn’t completely embrace the Black and Malfoy families. After all, she was raised by Muggles and had been influenced by Dumbledore for over six years.
I decided not to use the Four Lords in this fic to give myself a bit of a challenge. I’m so used to my form of aristocracy, that I wanted to just equalize everyone. Lord Voldemort and Lady Maia are the only people who give themselves honorary titles.
I also made everyone Christian. Christianity was introduced to England during the Anglo Saxon period so it’s not completely unreasonable to think that wizards would be Christian. It is the world’s dominant religion. So, there’s a lot of Christian swearing a la the Middle Ages.
